We received a lovely letter from the MP for Hampstead and Kilburn, Tulip Siddiq, thanking us for hosting several Covid-19 vaccination sessions – plus our Library Manager was awarded a special Community Champion honour. The library’s catchment area extends into Tulip’s constituency.
The letter was so heart-warmingly supportive, that the visiting vaccination team took a copy of the letter to display on their ‘Wall of Thanks’ back at their Ealing base, which services all of NW London.
The library was doubly honoured when our Library Manager then received a Community Champion Award from Tulip, who said: “For Stephanie Schonfield, who has worked so hard to keep Kensal Rise Library open.”
Stephanie commented: “I’m honoured to be sharing this award with the wonderful volunteers who have worked shifts with me, supported some fantastic events with me and contributed in myriad other ways to make sure that, despite the pandemic necessitating reduced lending hours, the library has continued to welcome and serve the community – and beyond.
“I just work here; they volunteer their free time.”
From Tulip’s letter:
I would like to take the opportunity to say thank you to all the staff and volunteers who have been involved in the rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine at Kensal Rise Library….
…Having seen such high coronavirus case rates – and sadly deaths – in my constituency at many points in this pandemic, it is essential that we get as many local people vaccinated and boosted. You should be very proud of the role you are playing in this, and I am proud to represent you in Parliament.
