Our incredible volunteers give their time to keep a beautiful, lively library at the heart of the neighbourhood.
Lidia and Urielle are two of our shift volunteers. Their tasks include helping visitors, checking books in and out and re-shelving. Sometimes they re-configure the space, if the library hosts an event or private hire.
Lidia, an architect originally from Brazil, says: “The space and working environment are fantastic. It is obvious this place and all the things in it have been made with care and love. I really like the team here, and the people who come to borrow are respectful and friendly. I also love that so many children use the library. “
Urielle, who is French and hopes to study biochemistry or medicine in Canada, likes the library’s atmosphere and enjoys meeting our users. “This is the first time that I have ever volunteered – and there is nothing I don’t like about it!”.
While shift volunteers give their time on a regular basis, there are also opportunities to volunteer occasionally eg to help at events, to bake cakes for fundraisers, to offer professional expertise etc. If you are interested in becoming involved and would like more information, email: kensalriselibraryvolunteers@hotmail.com
