Another Lovely Library Story (try to get to the end for full effect!)

Bringing People Together With Opportunity

The lady in the picture had just been to the Jobcentre. She asked for help at the library, as she didn’t understand the emails they sent her. Also, she’d been sent job ads, but didn’t understand them – and couldn’t write a covering letter to accompany her cv. So, we explained the emails, and wrote the letter for her. 

..But then, she asked for more help to put it all on her smartphone, in order to send. Um, on the day, that was beyond our skill set – argh!

…But then, the gent in the picture, who had only just joined the library, very kindly stepped in to help with the phone, and all was well. 

Better yet – and pay-off: when the gent found out that the lady was looking for work in the catering industry, he gave her another two email addresses to write to – as he was Marketing Chief of a very well-known chain of restaurants. The woman was made up.

As another visitor remarked: “This library… it’s not just about the books, is it?”
